Pursuit Ultralight Selected as
“Best of the Best” in Muzzleloader Category
Best Muzzleloader – Traditions Performance Firearms, known for their extreme accurate and dependable muzzleloaders, is the honored recipient of the 2011 Field and Stream “Best of the Best” product in the muzzleloader category. This prestigious annual awards program is designed to find and recognize the best new and innovative products in the hunting industry each year. The announcement was made in the September 2011 issue of Field & Stream.
Tom Hall, President of Traditions Performance Firearms comments “We are extremely honored to receive this award for the second year in a row from such a high-standing and well-known publication like Field & Stream. We realize that the testers for the Best of the Best have many choices and test many guns during this process so it makes us feel even more honored that our gun outperforms our competition and passes the rigorous tests the guns are put through. I think that this speaks to the quality of our guns and what our consumers can expect from Traditions. Our team works extremely hard to create new, innovative muzzleloaders and we could not be more proud of what we have put forth with the Pursuit Ultralight.”
To determine a winner, the guns were put through rigorous testing and were inspected for overall fit and finish and trigger pull weights. The barreled actions were also removed and inspected with a borescope. The test included three shots at 100 yards with three different kinds of ammo as well as being shot from a bench rest.
The Pursuit Ultralight was designed based off of the extremely popular Pursuit series and the 2010 Best of the Best selection, the Vortek Ultralight. The 26” chromoly steel ultralight barrel provides superior strength and accuracy while reducing the gun’s weight. Earning the title “Lightest Muzzleloader in the World” by weighing in at only 5.15 pounds, the Pursuit Ultralight is built to travel and easy to carry on long hunts.
The Premium CeraKote Finish offers unparalleled protection against highly corrosive black powder, cleaning chemicals, and any kind of weather. Other features that make up this revolutionary gun are the Accelerator Breech Plug, Dual Safety System, and Speed Load System.
The Pursuit Ultralight was created to maximize accuracy beyond 200 yards. Field and Stream tester Brad Fenson says in the Field and Stream article “The rifle tested had a crisp, factory-set trigger with a pull of 3 ¼ pounds and a 26-inch fluted barrel. Its groups would rival those of many higher-priced centerfire rifles.”
Other comments included:
* “The breech plug can be removed in seconds without a tool, making the rifle easy to maintain”
* “Loading was a breeze and the bullets could be seated with little effort.”
* “The 5.15-pound Ultralight handles well and is easy to shoot, even with 150-grain magnum loads.”
